Tomi Reichental Visit

"We - you, me, your children, my children - must never forget"

(Tomi Reichental)

On March 5th, 2020, our school was honoured with the visit of Holocaust survivor, Tomi Reichental. Tomi spoke to 3rd - 6th and staff about his life, the Nazi regime against Jewish people, being forced into Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, the loss of family, and his survival.

Tomi's story is one of shock, horror but also hope for the future. His incredible survival against the odds and in the most extreme conditions ever experienced in global history is one which moves everyone, whether you like history or not.

We were fortunate Tomi had a couple of free dates left - and it happened to be World Book Day! We can only thank Tomi for giving up his time to us, for telling his truth, for being so kind in answering questions, and for signing so many books.

Tomi has offered to speak to parents too some evening. He is booked up with TV, filming for ITV in Bergen-Belsen for a major documentary, speaking across Europe and other commitments so it will likely be September / October 2020.

Tomi has 2 books - "Tomi" and "I Was A Boy in Belsen". Both are excellent reads
