Shared Reading

Our Shared Reading initiative is run in six-week blocks throughout the school year and is a much-loved part of our literacy programme.

We warmly invite parents, grandparents, and members of the local community to volunteer their time and join us in school to read with a class. This valuable initiative provides children with the opportunity to read aloud to supportive adults in a relaxed and encouraging environment, helping to build confidence, fluency, and a genuine enjoyment of reading.

The children thoroughly enjoy sharing their reading with visitors and always look forward to these sessions. It is wonderful to see the positive relationships that develop between pupils and the adults who generously give their time to support literacy in our school.

We are very grateful to all who take part in Shared Reading, as it plays an important role in fostering a strong reading culture and strengthening the partnership between home, school, and the wider community.
