We combine Book Week with World Book Day which is one of the most exciting events in our school calendar and provides a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the joy of reading, writing, and storytelling.
Throughout the week, we place a special emphasis on literacy, encouraging children to explore books, develop their creativity, and share their love of reading with others. Pupils take part in a variety of book-related activities, including writing their own stories, creating illustrations, and designing and publishing their very own books.
One of the highlights of the celebration is our annual World Book Day dress-up day. Children are invited to come to school dressed as a character from their favourite book and to bring the book along to share with their classmates. This creates a fantastic opportunity for pupils to recommend books, discuss their favourite stories, and inspire one another to read.
Each year, the children and their families put an incredible amount of effort into creating imaginative and creative costumes. We are always amazed by the variety of characters that come to life in our classrooms, making World Book Day a truly memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
Our World Book Day celebrations help to foster a lifelong love of reading and remind us of the magic that books can bring to our lives.
