Reading Buddies - 5th and Senior Infants!

Our Senior Infants and 5th Class pupils recently took part in our Reading Buddies initiative, which proved to be a wonderful experience for all involved. The 5th Class pupils were given the important responsibility of supporting the younger children with their reading and embraced this role with great maturity, patience, and enthusiasm.

Each week, the senior pupils listened carefully to their buddies read, offering encouragement, guidance, and praise to help build their confidence and fluency. The Senior Infants greatly enjoyed sharing stories with their older buddies, while the 5th Class pupils took pride in being positive role models and mentors.

The programme fostered a love of reading, strengthened relationships across the school, and provided valuable opportunities for leadership, teamwork, and communication. It was fantastic to see the friendships that developed, and the 5th Class pupils thoroughly enjoyed the experience of helping and encouraging their younger peers.
