Dublin Youth Awards 2021

Lord Mayor of Dublin Youth Awards 2021!

BREAKING NEWS

The winner of the Lord Mayor of Dublin Youth Award for all primary school children for 2021 is

OUR OWN THEA O'DONOGHUE!!!!!!!!

This is without doubt one of the proudest moments our school has ever had!

Lord Mayor, Hazel Chu, spoke to Thea live this morning in the classroom and spoke of Thea saying

"Thea brought so much joy to all her neighbours in Chapelizod by producing a weekly newsletter called Weekly Chapelizod Wonders. A budding journalist, Thea provided content, wrote her own articles, designed and illustrated a fantastic compilation of news, fun facts about the local area and history, puzzles and more. Not only that, Thea printed and stapled each copy and hand delivered each weekly edition to her neighbours and friends. Her sense of inclusion and editorial vision was such that she always ensured that all ages could send her content for each weeks newsletters and it has been so lovely to see so many young people design covers, create crosswords, provide riddles, share their own news and more!

Thea has an amazing sense of community and her entrepreneurial spirit brought light, levity and happiness to so many over the dark and dreary days"

More photos etc to follow later in the day. The webinar will soon be able to be rewatched on the Dublin City Council YouTube channel..we will add the link when we get it from the Lord Mayor's Office!

Congrats

to mam and dad and all the family and to all the neighbours and staff who nominated Thea for this! Our first nomination ever and our first win! We will now retire with a 100% win record!

Thea won alongside the famous Adam King of the Late Late Toy Show and the Irish "Virtual Hugs" and pupils from Whitehall, Ballybough, Clontarf and Clare Hall who all did various social positive things such as fundraisers, environmental awareness and more!
